This is the printable cover for The Walking Dad.
Since I use it to make labels, it's tailored to my printer and browser (IE7) settings. It might not look or print as nicely on your PC.
I suggest you try a print preview and/or low-ink draft print before trying to print actual labels.
Make sure you configure your browser to print backgrounds, or the images won't print.
Set your left/right printer margins to 0.75 and your top/bottom margins to 0.50.
I'm not gonna agonise over these liner notes any more than I agonised over the musical notes. These songs were all conceived very quickly, usually inspired by whichever artist I was binging on at the time. Jazz, funk, reggae, dance, Afrobeat, Krautrock, Zappa... Yep, the usual suspects are all here.
However, instead of yet another lukewarm can of the same old watered down Muzak Lite, this time the flavours veer deliberately from the well-trodden Tripecac trail to explore twisty little side paths introducing new melodic, rhythmic, and production ideas... frequently mixing musical metaphors along the way.
Well, the detours are not overly dramatic, but even a casual listen might trigger an "oh, here's something new" moment or two. Or maybe not. Maybe the differences were all in my head!
Anyway, it doesn't matter. You'll probably listen to this CD a couple times and then add it to the huge pile of Tripecac coasters stashed away on the shelf, or in the closet, or in the rubbish bin. These tracks are ultimately disposable, but that's okay, because by the time you read this my focus will have shifted to a new batch. These songs are, like, soooooo 2017!
Yep, it's time for a new year... and a new sequencer, because on 21 November 2017, the same day I finished the last song on this album, I read that Cakewalk is shutting down.
SONAR is dead! But you'll see no tears on my face, because I've grown increasingly disgrunted with SONAR over the years. Of course, it takes a while to learn new software, so who knows, maybe I'll keep using SONAR for a while yet, even in its "dead" state. So it will be like using an animated corpse, a zombie... Get it???
Anyway... (and that's not the worst of the jokes on here)... what the title really refers to is my disdain for cars. And to my main role in life, which is to be the coolest dad ever! Yup!
