I've been thinking about what the format should be.\u00a0 A web site?\u00a0 A book?\u00a0 A movie (like Ken Burns' collages)? A multimedia CD\/DVD?<\/p>\n
One way to answer that question is to ask myself: what format would I prefer if I'm viewing someone else's life work?<\/p>\n
My answer to that is: a combination of books, cds, and dvds.\u00a0 One format cannot suffice.<\/p>\n
A website doesn't cut it.\u00a0 I hate reading long pages online; I much prefer a book.\u00a0 And online video (a la youtube) is too lofi and time limited to be immersive.\u00a0 And mp3 sound quality sucks.<\/p>\n
The Fall have books, cds, and dvds (plus websites for discussion, news, and commerce). There's nothing wrong with that model, from my perspective.<\/p>\n
So my idea of putting everything in one package is probably not gonna work.\u00a0 I need to think of partitioning my compilation into multiple formats: book, cd, dvd.\u00a0 The website should be supplementary only.\u00a0 Putting every scrap of paper, music, imagery, and video online is probably a bad idea.<\/p>\n
I should think in terms of presenting the most interesting bits in a traditional format.<\/p>\n
