Who has contributions to the 3rd tribute cd? I'm positive I have two ready.

I managed to remix "Safesurfer," "Highway...," and "Unisex." I should be able to send the cds to you.

Billy, I'm very interested to hear your new versions!
It might save you some hassle if you wait until we're to the "almost ready" point. That way, you can send the latest of every song for Volume 3, all at once. Maybe Abbie will want to do another cover too?

We got another submission, this time from
Jurgen De Blonde.
You can listen to it here:

Jürgen used "YouSendIt" to send me the mp3. That was a painless way to submit the song.

The submissions keep trickling in... We're getting close to the point of being able to finish Volume 3. I need to get my butt in gear and record my own cover.

We almost have enough songs for Volume 3. This means we can set a tentative deadline for submissions. How about the last day of September (2007-09-30)? That gives us almost two months to select, practice, record, mix, master, and submit our songs.
Any ideas for a title? Here are some possibilities:
1) Triple Vegetation
2) Saint Julian is Missing
3) An Audience without the Cope
4) Dork Orgasm
5) Tri Tri Tri

Think my votes with Triple Vegetation at the moment. Are you submitting a track?
Speaking of covers, this weekend it's Pete Wylie's Classic night in Liverpool and it looks like they may cover one or two Teardrop songs as they are doing covers from the Eric's days so I'l make sure I make this one. Hope to get it recorded if I can.

Yeah, I plan to submit a track! Haven't picked one yet, though.
Wow, we're almost to the deadline (30 September). Tentative deadline. Very tentative.

On 2007-09-30 I wrote:
Well, today's the 30th and I haven't received any more submissions.
[Or started on my own cover. I recently upgraded my music software from Sonar 5 to Sonar 7, and am having some nasty bugs which make editing no fun at all. Once those get fixed (in an upcoming patch I hope), I'll be ready to tackle a Cope (or Teardrops) track.] So let's postpone the deadline for a while (surprise surprise!). Submissions are (as always) welcome!!!
Wow, lots of parentheses in that last paragraph!

Okay, guys! Good news! Yesterday I started working on my cover song for Volume 3! Today I worked on it some more, and I hope to finish it within the next few days! It's about 7 minutes long, which helps eat up the remaining time on the CD.
So this means we're almost ready to roll. Let's set a deadline for Volume 3 submissions. How does next Friday sound? 9 November. That gives everyone a week to rush me a CD, mp3, or wav file... And then I'll have a week to finish the CD before Thanksgiving week. I think that'll work.
Sound ok for you?

Okay, a clue: it's a Teardrop Explodes song with a very repetitive bass line! After listening to the new
Peel Sessions Plus CD I knew which song I wanted to do!
As soon as I'm done, I'll upload it and post here.

So we have one vote for a title it's "Triple Vegetation". Sound good to everyone? (all two of us)

I've updated the pages to include Volume 4 (not yet started) and Extras (alternative takes, etc.).
My next tasks are:
1) finish my cover song
2) finalize track listing
3) create cover
4) update site
5) decide how to handle the CD vs mp3 issue

Okay, today's the deadline. There havent' been any submissions since my track, but we have over 70 minutes now so that's a good stopping point.
I've finalized the track listing, and normalized all the tracks. All that's left is the cover art.

By the way, sorry for the hideous cover art. It was very hard to find photos of Cope amidst "vegetation". I did find a cool one at flickr, but it was by a professional photographer and I didn't want to step on his toes. So I ended up copying some pix from the Head Heritage site. We've bought so much Cope stuff from them that it's not in their best interest to complain!

I thought the cover art was really cool (really goes with the title) - and much better to include the track listing. Haven't had a chance to listen to it yet - hopefully tomorrow.

My girlfriend hates the front cover! (and so do I). Should I change it, or leave it as-is?
I need a good cover photo as a basis!

I actually think it's a much better cover than Vol 1 & 2 and was impressed when I saw it..................

How's the sound quality on those mp3s? Some are 128 kbps and some are 192 kbps. I can try to get them all at 192 if you want. Or even 256 if there's a demand. Anything to encourage people to download and burn themselves their own CDs instead of asking me!
I really wanna keep the overhead down on these releases so that I'm encouraged to do more of them!

I noticed some of the mp3s were at 96 kpbs and others at 160 kbps. So I went ahead and re-encoded them all at 256 kbps. I'm uploading them now; they should be done in an hour or so. If you already downloaded them all, then I suggest you do it again (at least an hour after this post).

...downloading again now...
Listened to it earlier, there's some great tracks on there, I hadn't heard any of these before today.

I love the variety! Some of them are really quite trippy!
