The local store here has a copy of Floored Genius II in stock. $20.95
Let me know if you are interested in a trade for it.
I'll be here in town for the next 4 or 5 weeks, then back to Charlottesville
for the summer!
Also, does anyone know the address for the Fall mailing list?
My letter to fall-request@wg.estec.esa.nl got returned to me :(
So much for a mid-April release of Head On! When oh when?
Anyone know what Cope has been up to? My this is a quiet list!
Dad's mailing me a copy of the Jazz Butcher's WAITING FOR THE LOVE BUS
this week, so I'll be happy for a while, but this wait for Mr. Cope is
really drawing out! :)
Take care everybody, and say hello to the new subscribers!
Oh yeah I recently conducted a survey to see what people thought of
the new Phish album (HOIST) and in general people liked it a lot! So if
you're bored and don't know what to get, that's a suggestion.
Also, there are rumors of an upcoming Fall album!

I've come to the conclusion that the song "Head" is actually a reverse
triple entendre. I've come to this conclusion by doing nitrous while I
listen to it. I also finally converted all my stoner friends, using the
song "safesurfer". It just goes to show that any reasonably tasteful,
intelligent person will realize julian cope is a genius if they get to
hear him enuf.
I got a peggy suicide tour bootleg from the Paradise club in boston.
It's pretty good.

hi travis, it's great to see some 'life' on the list.....it's bad enough that
I just got back from Plan 9(richmond location) and I found 3 copies of 'St.
Julian' in the used-record bin for $2!
In the March issue of Select magazine there is a section for up-coming
releases ...it had a may release for 'autogeddon'.. and I remember
reading in melody maker that julian was in the studio recording new tracks..
so , hopefully we will see a release soon from him......i've been enjoying
Floored Genius II, but i want to hear some new stuff!
i'll let you know more when i hear/see it...
cheers,
eugene

Eugene - any idea if the May release date is UK or UK and US or ???
Also, is the new one gonna be Autogeddon or Head On? Or is the new-new
one Head on (the one he's been working on now) and the October one
Autogeddon? Confusing!
Whatever the name, it better come out soon, or we'll make an exodus to
England and get Julian to play the songs for us himself!
Smile!

I was wondering the other day during a fire drill at my dorm what I'd do
if my CDs were all burned in a fire. Or, more realistically, what if
someone broke into my room and stole them?
All my Julian Cope Cds... gone! All those tapes of B-sides, ot bootlegs.
Years of special orders, sifting through used record bins, trading with
people on the 'net. Arg! If someone stole my music I don't know WHAT
I would do - probably flee to England and try to move in with Julian Cope.
Have him sing me lullabies every night so I can get to sleep. Not that
I think he's a God or anything - I just think I would get fed up with
collecting. Maybe I'd start going to concerts. I don't know.
Well, here's the topic: What would YOU do if your CD collection got stolen?
Do you know anyone who's had this happen to them?
Responses greatly appreciated!

If my records and tapes and CDs got ruined or stolen, I would start
to slowly rebuild the collection. What would keep me going is the
thought of the music. If they're gone, they're gone, and I would
hopefully even begin to enjoy replacing them, even if it does undo
my plans for buying NEW stuff. I also think, as I found copies of
them, that I would appreciate them even more...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Does anyone have 2 copies of stuff they particularly like or stuff that's
hard to find now? Like a stache in a fireproof vault somewhere?

Most of the stuff I have is not exceedingly rare, so if I had to rebuild my
collection, it would be more of a financial burden than anything else. I
do have one advantage--I work at a radio station that stocks many of the
groups I listen to (though alas not Cope), so if need be, I could pilfer
the album from the station. But before you cry out indignantly, listen:
the station has two of most everything, and some of the albums, like any
Nick Cave b-side, are only ever even touched by me. Besides, it's worth
the guilt trip. Travis, I don't think that JC would like you to move in
with him. I imagine he's quite happy with Dorian, Albany, and Smelvin.

Hi, I'm thinking about ordering RITE on CD. Any idea if the mailing
address was up to date?
Also, I'm subscribed to new-releases, but it hasn't come in about 2 and hald
oops half weeks. Very late. Anyone else having this problem. I would
like to see if Cope's album still has a May release date.
Guess what? I just received email from Mark Burgess tonight! Wow! My
first time "talking" to a rock star! :) For those of you who don't know,
Mark Burgess was lead singer for the Chameleons, then Sun and the Moon,
and now the Sons of God. Chameleons are way up there with Cope on my
list of favs.
(My favs being Cope, Cure, Chameleons, Clash, Jazz Butcher and Phish)
Gotta catch a bus,

In todays Melody Maker - Autogeddon is released in July/August, on a
new label (Echo I think). Head On is released in June - this is the
first part of Julians biography, covering from 1976 when he first went
to Liverpool, up until 1982 and the demise of the Teardrops.

Gee, its been quite a while since I sent anything in, but I did have
some things to share with you all...
Firstly, can someone tell me if there is a difference between the
track listing for Floored Genius 2 for the US and UK release. I just
wondered because in the latest edition of Alternative Press (which
reviews it) it comments how Search Party is such a wonderful song. I
know it is, but its not on the disc!!! The liner notes also comment
about it yet it is left off. Weird. Anyone help out?
Secondly, I got a new Cope bootleg and I think that it is the best I
have ever heard. Hardly any crowd noise for a crowd recording, and
Julian is on WONDERFUL form. Its from the Edinburgh festival last
year, and he does some new material including one called "I'm No Mark
Chapman". He also takes requests from the audience, admits he forgot
the words to songs the other night (No Hard Shoulder I think...) and
also does all manner of insane things. Weird noises, acapella version
of Poet Is Priest etc etc. I will do a track listing eventually, but
it really is damned good. And the new stuff is as witty as
Jehovahkill. And he does older stuff - Passionate Friend even. Sigh.
Copey heaven.
I haven't heard any more about the potential releases. Maybe the book
is the Stone circle one? Just a thought....

        Hi Travis,
August looks *very* good. I think American Recordings is planning
on a successful release(in terms of sales) for Julian. I should be getting
more info soon about his record deal from a friend in the record biz.
I don't think the Live Teardrop Explodes CD was ever released in the
