I just had a couple of things to say about current discussions.
One thing is that I've heard that Mac is recording some songs (demos at
least, possibly an album) with Johnny Marr.
Another thing is that HMV in Boston say they will be getting FG2 soon.
Another thing is that I'm pretty sure the Teardrops bbc concert cd is
already available by mailorder catalogue.
Once again, I'd also like to plug Roky too. Easter everywhere is the title
of the second elevators record, Starry Eyes is a buddy holly-esque solo
song by Roky. zippo is a company that rereleased some roky erickson stuff
as well as droolian. I would say that fried is Cope's syd barrett phase,
jehovahkill is his krautrock phase, peggy suicide is elevators and st
julian is solo roky erickson. (i guess my nation is scott walker and
arthur lee.) peggy sue has a big Tim Buckley influence too.

listening to it and I like it a lotAny more Barrett fans out there?
I thought Johnny Marr was involved in the The now. Hmm. That
boy certainly gets around!
FG2 in Boston: Yippee!!!
Teardrops concert CD: any info on this baby is ravenously coveted.

I knew someone would want to know about the teardropx cd. A friend is
actually ordering mine for me, but I'll make sure to find out the address
as soon as I can.
By the way. I got a couple of cope bootlegs on the street at a market in
London, but there were more I couldn't get. Are there any good
cope/teardrops bootlegs floating around? I can't find a single one in
boston, although there's bootlegs here for practically every band (ie echo
and the bunnymen.) Oh well.

It would be nice if we could arrange a bootleg-swap.
Basically, get a communal collection of all the boots everybody has, then
distribute to whoever wants 'em. A bootleg-library. Email me if you are
interested in this.
Just out of curiosity, how many of you are "completists" (gottan have every
single Julian Cope album/EP you can get yours quivering hands on)? I'm
sure there are quite a few casual Cope fans, but i wonder how many
Cope-maniacs. The reason I ask this is because everybody seems pretty subdued
when there is a mention of a new Radio Sho CD or a Teardrops live CD.. I go
bananas (can ya tell). Maybe it's because many Cope fans are older than
your average impulsive college student.
Also, which are the best magazines for keeping up to date with the (primarily
British) alternative music world?
Rolling Stone is hopelessly Pop to me.
Wow, this is like a record day for Cope articles!

In response to Travis's questions:
I am definately a cope-maniac and I am quite excited about any new releases.
I've been a bit subdued about FG2 because I already have most solo Cope
BBC sessions on a bootleg tape. In fact, I'm almost disappointed because
I would rather have the teardrops bbc sessions, which I have never heard.
If you want to keep up, the weekly papers are the only way to go. NME (new
musical express) and Melody Maker generally print all you would need to know
about Cope and everyone else. (personally I prefer NME and since they
both basically print the same exact info, I don't pay a lot of attention
to Melody Maker.) If your lucky, some record store around your area
carries them.(If you live in London, you obviously shouldn't be bothering
to read this.)
I listened to safesurfer whilst stoned last night and it was nothing short
of incredible.

Howdy all,
I definately pick up any Cope I can get, which now is rather limited
living in North Dakota. I'd be interested in getting any bootlegs
available plus the new releases. As to a previous question on other music
listened to, I like the Violent Femmes (saw them last week), Art of Noise,
the Suburbs, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, David Bromberg, the The, plus
dozens of others. Surprisingly, we do get some new music here in the
great white north, but the radio is hopeless. Lots of interesting music
has to be special ordered. So long for now.

are available (one's coming to the store tomorrow) and the price (here, at
least) is about $20. No info on Teardrop Explodes Live album yet.

I haven't heard it, but I've seen it in the shops. The Cope track is
'Hey High Class Butcher' - not sure if it's an unreleased version.

I'm willing to go buy a CD of Floored Genius II for anyone who is
interested. Cost is $20, plus shipping (about $1.50) but since it's
Christmas I'll only charge $21.00 :)
No, really, I know the store here has at least one copy of FG II, and
since Tony has been nice enough to send me my own CD all the way from
Belfast (what a guy!) I don't have much need of the CD in the store.
Anyway, let me know if you are interested.
Also, if anyone has any more info on the Teardrops Live CD, please
post it!
Have a Merry Christmas, Y'all

Hi everybody! I will be out of town until next Friday, so don't
panic if yoru posts don't get sent out right away.
I will of course post them all when I get back.
As December comes to a close, so does the estimated deadline for the
release of the Teardrop Explodes live CD. Everybody cross your
fingers and let's hope it comes out on time.
Merry Christmas!

I went in to the record store here and got to listen to Floored Genius II
(said I was seeing if it's something my girlfriend would like) and it sounded
pretty good. Good recording quality, interesting sleeve too. Some of the
(especially earlier) songs sound very much like those on the albums. Some
veer away a bit (like You..., Transmitting, etc).
December came and went with no more news of the pending Teardrops release.
Happy new year everybody!
Oh yeah - I'm willing to go buy the FG2 for somebody if you think the $20
they charge for it isn't too much. Offer good until the store sells it to
someone else.
I kinda see that most of the subscribers here are college personel - it sure
is quiet these days!
Have a happy rest-of-the-holidays and enjoy the break! :)
Bye for now,
  Travis

Hey Fellows and Fellettes!
Yesterday I got Floored Genius II, finally! Listened to it twice right
before bed. Very interesting. The little review that's in the jacket
ends with "next stop autogeddon."
Has anyone found the Teardrops Live album yet? As of January 11, it is
still not available in the U.S. as far as I can tell. Maybe the release date
of December was UK-only.
Well, I hope you all are enjoying your vacations. The convo on here is sure
to pick up once the college people get back to school, sometime next week.
   next stop autogeddon, indeed :)

I've got a 36-inch by 36-inch poster that's a duplicate of the "World Shut
Your Mouth" 12-inch single (in color) from a store promo that I'd like to
sell (preferably) or trade. E-mail me directly if interested.
Any news on the Teardrop Explodes live CD? Has it come out? Will it come
out?
Certainly has been quiet on the list of late...

Yes, it sure is quiet. I've been bugging the local stores and no one
has heard of a release date for the Teardrops or for AUTOGEDDON. :(
It's no longer on the comp[uterizes new-releases bullitin either.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, but was beginning to think
that the list had gone away. Anyway, I have a VERY Copey Christmas
although I've still to get my hands on FG II but its underhand thanks
to friends back home in Scotland. But the news I wanted to share with
you is concerning the much fabled TE live CD.
Well, its listed in the new Rhythm catalogue: "Petulance - BBC Radio 1
In Concert" CD at ten pounds and thirty pence. Its not even got his
new release sign so it MUST be out. That's all I can help with, but at
least it has a name now....
I did get Floored Genius One at long last, and its a nice disk to slip
in just to get all Coped out although I think I could have put
together a better compilation but hey! what do I know?
And I also get Skellington II - he's still a bit on the bizarre sound,
but its as wonderful as the first one.
Any news on his stone circle book?
And anyone on the look out for boots - I have a half decent one from
the Highlands and Islands tour that I could trade....

apparently it came to his house and he will be able to go get it this
weekend. When he calls me, I'll tell you guys about it and try to get
the address of the place he ordered it from. Still awaiting FGII, but I
heard that it was to be called BBC sessions and come out on the 8th of
February. Oh well.

Hi,
I'm new to this list and was wondering if anybody had worked out
the chords/tabulation for any Julian songs. I know some of
       them are simple ( G D A ) but I'm utterly useless at putting
chords to songs. I worked out Reynard The Fox if anybody's
       interested.
Thanks to Mike Higgot for Bill Drummond Said and Sunspots,
have you done anymore since Nov. ?
Thanks for any help
Gavin.

Reynard left and went to Warwickshire, to a mound near a railway line,
with canals and a freezing swamp. He climbs high up above the countryside
and breathes freely. To the south he could see Polesworth, and to the
north he could just make out the ruins of the priory where Joss and I
played cricket as children. We were only three miles away, probably drinking
tea and talking,
(Have you heard about the orphan, sitting by the coffin)
at the same time as he was taking the stanley knife out of
the bag. He pushed the point into his stomach,
(His Father's not a sinner no more)
 until the light shone right
through. And then he reached down, and he took the bag.
